Hi @SD9022,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer’s paper is not feeding straight into the input tray, it can cause issues like paper jams, misaligned prints, or print quality problems. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

**1. Check the Paper Tray

Ensure Proper Paper Size:

  • Verify that you are using the correct paper size for your printer. The paper size should match the settings in your printer's software.

Adjust Paper Guides:

  • Ensure the paper guides in the input tray are adjusted to fit the paper size you’re using. The guides should be snug against the edges of the paper without bending or crumpling it.

Remove and Reinsert Paper:

  • Remove the paper from the tray. Check for any bent or damaged sheets, and replace them if necessary.
  • Reinsert the paper, ensuring it is aligned properly with the paper guides.

**2. Inspect Paper Quality

Check Paper Condition:

  • Ensure the paper is not wrinkled, curled, or damp. Use fresh, dry paper that is properly stored.

Use Recommended Paper Type:

  • Use paper that is recommended by the printer manufacturer. Refer to the printer’s user manual for suitable paper types and weights.

**3. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Locate Rollers:

  • Find the paper feed rollers inside the input tray area. These rollers are responsible for pulling the paper into the printer.

Clean Rollers:

  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water and gently clean the rollers to remove any dust or debris. Let them dry completely before reinserting the paper.

**4. Check for Obstructions

Inspect the Tray:

  • Look inside the paper tray and feed area for any obstructions or foreign objects that could be causing the paper to feed incorrectly.

Clear Any Jams:

  • If there are any paper jams, carefully remove the jammed paper following the printer’s instructions.

**5. Align the Paper Tray

Ensure Proper Tray Installation:

  • Make sure the paper tray is properly installed in the printer. It should slide in easily without any gaps or misalignment.

Check Tray Settings:

  • Ensure that any tray settings or adjustments in the printer’s settings are correctly configured for the paper size and type you are using.

**6. Perform a Printer Calibration

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
