Hi @kamila2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer is only printing red and blue colors, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check the Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them, ensuring they click into place.
  • Check that you have removed all protective tape or packaging from the cartridges.

Print a Self-Test Report:

  • Print a self-test page or a printer status report to see if the printer is able to recognize all colors. This can help identify if the issue is with the printer or the cartridges.
  • To print a self-test page, go to the printer's control panel, select Setup > Reports > Print Self-Test Report.

Run the Printhead Cleaning Utility:

  • Go to the printer settings on your computer and find the option to clean the printhead. This can help clear any clogs.
  • On Windows, open the HP Smart app or Printers & Scanners settings, select your printer, and find the Clean Printhead option.
  • On macOS, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and choose Options & Supplies > Utility > Clean Printhead.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Restart your printer and computer to refresh the connection.

Perform a Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Color Settings:

  • Ensure that your print settings are not set to print only in grayscale or a specific color. Check your printing preferences in the application you are using.

Test Different Documents:

  • Try printing from different applications or documents to rule out any file-specific issues.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP website. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
