Hi @LaynaDriver

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m truly sorry your LaserJet MFP M234sdw is showing Error 06—it’s frustrating when a printer insists there’s a jam even when everything looks clear.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help resolve this and get your printer humming smoothly again:

🔧 Step-by-Step Fix for Error 06 (False Paper Jam)

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer completely.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on. This resets internal sensors.

Inspect All Paper Paths Thoroughly

  • Open the input tray, output tray, and rear access door.
  • Remove any paper, even if it looks properly aligned.
  • Check for tiny scraps or curled edges that may be triggering sensors.
  • Gently rotate the rollers to ensure they move freely.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Wipe the rollers gently to remove dust or residue.
  • Let them dry completely before closing the printer.

Check the Toner Cartridge Area

  • Remove the toner cartridge and inspect the cavity for any debris.
  • Reinsert the cartridge securely.

Update Printer Firmware

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults.
  • This clears any persistent error states.

If the error persists after these steps, it may be a sensor malfunction rather than a true jam.

Let’s get your printer back to crisp, clean output.
