Hi @Turci,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer refuses to work, even after reseating the cartridge. But don’t worry—we’ll go through some steps to get it working again.

A Few Quick Questions to Understand the Issue Better:

  1. What printer model are you using?
  2. Is there a specific error message or code displayed on the screen?
  3. Are you using original HP cartridges or third-party ones?
  4. Did you recently install a new cartridge or has this one been working fine before?

Troubleshooting Steps to Fix Cartridge Errors:

1. Remove and Reinsert the Cartridge Properly

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  • Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridge.
  • Check for protective tape (if it’s a new cartridge) and make sure it's fully clicked into place when reinserting.
  • Close the door, plug the printer back in, and restart it.

2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Take a lint-free cloth and gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and the printer.
  • Any dust, ink residue, or fingerprints can interfere with the connection.

3. Check for Firmware Updates

  • If the printer firmware is outdated, it might not recognize the cartridge properly.
  • Visit HP Support and check for any updates.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer from power for 60 seconds and press the power button for 30 seconds (while unplugged).
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.

5. Try a Different Cartridge (if available)

  • If possible, try using another cartridge (new or old) to see if the issue is with the printer or the cartridge itself.

If the error still persists, let me know your printer model and the exact error message, and I’ll guide you further.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
