Hi @BasinBoy1971,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer might be having a system issue. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often resolve temporary system issues.

Check for Error Messages: Look at the printer's display panel (if it has one) or your computer for any specific error messages. These can help identify the exact issue.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager (on Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (on Mac) and check if there are any issues with the printer driver.
  • You may need to update or reinstall the printer driver. You can download the latest drivers from HP's support website.

Check for Paper Jams or Low Ink: Ensure there are no paper jams and that the ink or toner cartridges aren't empty or improperly installed.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP offers a diagnostic tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows. It automatically finds and fixes issues with your printer.

Check Connectivity: If it's a wireless printer, ensure that it's still connected to the network. If it's connected via USB, make sure the cable is securely plugged in.

Factory Reset (if needed): If none of the above works, you might consider performing a factory reset on the printer to restore it to default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
