Hi @Tigar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your replacement printer is showing the incorrect model name in its built-in information and you need to correct it, you can follow these steps to address the issue:

1. Verify Printer Model

Check Printer Documentation:

  • Confirm the actual model of your replacement printer by checking the documentation or the label on the printer itself.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.

2. Update Printer Firmware

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware if available. This might correct any internal inconsistencies or misidentifications.

Firmware Installation:

  • Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update to install it on your printer.

3. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

Access Printer Menu:

  • Use the printer’s control panel or screen to navigate to the settings menu. This is usually found under Setup, Settings, or Tools.

Find Factory Reset Option:

  • Look for an option like Restore Factory Defaults, Reset All Settings, or similar.

Perform the Reset:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer. This will revert the printer to its original settings and may correct the incorrect model name issue.

4. Reconfigure Printer Settings

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • If you’re using Bluetooth or network connectivity, you may need to reconfigure these settings after the reset.

Reconnect Printer:

  • Remove the printer from any existing Bluetooth or network connections and set it up again as a new device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
