I have a HP 7520 Photosmart all in one printer. I was copying some colored business cards and it copied about 5 copies. Then it showed an error of OUT OF PAPER. even thought it was not.  I removed the business cards from the copy tray and then tried to print something. The same code came up. It will not print. I have tried everything.

@Nelliebell2, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

That’s a common paper-feed detection fault on the HP Photosmart 7520 All-in-One, especially after copying thick or small media like business cards. Even when paper is loaded, the printer’s feed rollers can slip or its sensors can misread the tray as empty. Try these steps in order — they usually get the 7520 working again.

Power Reset

Turn the printer off.

Unplug the power cable from the back.

Wait 60 seconds.

Reconnect and power on the printer.
This clears temporary paper-detection memory.

Check and Reload the Paper

Remove all paper from the input tray.

Fan the stack to loosen any pages stuck together.

Make sure the paper is plain, dry, and not curled.

Reinsert 10–25 sheets into the tray and slide the paper guides snugly against the paper edges.

Try printing again.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Sometimes, when printing thick media like cards, the rollers get coated with fine dust or glossy residue, making them slip.

Turn the printer off and unplug it.

Remove the rear access door or duplexer (if fitted).

Locate the rubber feed rollers inside.

Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water and gently wipe the rollers while rotating them with your fingers.

Let them dry for 10–15 minutes, then reinstall the door and power the printer back on.

Reset Paper Sensor

There’s an optical sensor inside that may be stuck reading “empty.”

Remove the paper tray completely.

Use a flashlight to check for any tiny scraps or dust inside the feed slot.

Blow gently into the feed area or use compressed air to clear it.

Reinsert the tray firmly until it clicks.

Try a Test Copy

Use the control panel to make a black-and-white copy (not color).

If it still says “Out of Paper”, press Cancel, open the rear door, and check that no partial sheet is caught behind the rollers.
