Hi @bhansenmayer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message you're encountering suggests that there might be an issue with your HP account, the printer setup, or the cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Check HP Account:

  • Log into your HP account at the HP Smart website or HP Instant Ink website.
  • Check for any notifications or messages related to your printer.
  • Ensure your printer is registered and that there are no pending issues related to billing, subscription, or cartridge usage.

Verify Cartridges:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP cartridges can sometimes cause issues.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
  • Check the cartridge contacts for any debris or ink residue and clean them if necessary.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes clear any temporary errors.

Reinstall the Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest drivers from the HP support website.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app or any HP software you are using is up to date.
  • Restart your computer to clear any temporary software glitches.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page from the printer’s control panel or through the HP software to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
