@Eadh, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer marking an error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer doesn’t recognize new cartridges. Let’s try a few basic troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility – Ensure that the cartridges are the correct model for your HP printer and that they are genuine HP cartridges.
  2. Reinstall the Cartridges – Remove the cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth. Reinsert them firmly into their respective slots.
  3. Restart Your Printer – Power off the printer, unplug it for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Update Printer Firmware – Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
  5. Run the Printer Troubleshooter – On Windows 11, go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, then run the "Printer" troubleshooter.
  6. Reset the Printer – If the issue persists, try resetting your printer to factory settings.

If the problem continues, could you share more details?

  • What is your HP printer model?
  • Are you seeing any specific error messages?
  • Are the cartridges HP originals or refilled/remanufactured?

Looking forward to your response!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
