Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer has suddenly started acting like it is realigning printer heads or going through a restart.  Everything works fine but it is annoying to have it suddenly start this action.

It can be frustrating when your printer suddenly starts acting erratically. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Update Printer Firmware

Ensure the printer firmware is up to date:

2. Perform Printer Maintenance

Run the built-in maintenance tools such as the Print Quality Report or Diagnostic Tools available in your printer's control panel.

3. Check Printer Settings

Verify your printer’s settings, particularly focusing on the auto-alignment settings:

  • From the printer control panel, go to Settings.
  • Check if "Auto Alignment" is enabled and consider disabling it.

4. Reset the Printer

Perform a printer reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

5. Clean Printer Heads

Cleaning the printer heads can sometimes resolve alignment issues.

  • Access the printer software on your computer.
  • Under printer maintenance, select "Clean Printhead."

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
