Hi @DinahScott ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8620 displays a "Printer Failure" message, it could be due to various reasons such as a hardware issue, software glitch, or a paper jam. Here's what you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Remove any jammed paper carefully.
  • Inspect Ink Cartridges: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and not empty. Replace any empty or faulty cartridges.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware and drivers can often resolve software-related issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset the Printer: You can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
