Hi @Boltonite,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy Photo 6255 printer is automatically turning off after about 5 minutes of inactivity, and you need to reload or power it back on to use it again, it sounds like there may be a power management setting affecting its behavior. Here’s how you can address this issue:

1. Adjust Power Management Settings:

Printer Control Panel:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate through the settings menu to find Power Settings or Energy Settings.
  • Look for options related to Auto-Off or Sleep Mode.
  • Adjust the settings to increase the time before the printer automatically turns off.

HP Smart App:

  • If you have the HP Smart App installed on your computer or mobile device, open it.
  • Select your printer, go to Settings, and look for Energy Settings or similar options.
  • Adjust the settings to extend the time before the printer goes into sleep mode or turns off.

2. Disable Auto-Off Features:

  • Some printers have a feature that automatically turns off after a certain period of inactivity to conserve power. If you prefer the printer to remain on unless manually turned off, look for an option to disable this feature entirely.

3. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can include improvements to power management settings and overall printer performance.
  • Check the HP website for firmware updates specific to your HP Envy Photo 6255 printer model.

4. Adjust Computer Settings:

  • Sometimes, computers can also affect printer behavior through settings related to USB ports or network connectivity. Ensure your computer's power settings do not interfere with the printer's operation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
