Hi @MSchafer76

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s definitely not what you expect when you hit “Print”—I’m really sorry it’s acting up like that. If your printer is only printing reports and refusing to print regular documents, it’s likely caught in a setup or connectivity hiccup.

Let’s walk through a few steps to get things back on track:

🛠️ Try These Fixes First

Check Internet Connection

  • Even if the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, it may not be connected to the internet.
  • Open the Printer Information Page and look for “Internet Status.” If it says “Not Connected,” that could be the reason it’s restricted to reports only.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until the light starts blinking.
  • Use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Make sure your phone or PC is on the same network during setup.

Sign In to Your HP Account

  • Open the HP Smart app and sign in with your account.
  • Some models require account verification before full printing access is unlocked.

Check for Setup Cartridges

  • If you’ve just installed new ink, make sure they’re the setup cartridges that came with the printer.
  • Using regular cartridges before setup is complete can limit functionality.

Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device as well.

If it still refuses to print anything but reports, let me know what message appears on the info page or in the HP Smart app—I’ll help you decode it and get things moving again. We’ll get this sorted! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
