My printer is old, but still looks newer. It’s still seems to be in great shape, however, when I go to print multiple pages, it takes like 5-10 mins just to print 3-4 pages.
This is because it will either say, misprint, or it will say cooling down, or it will just reset after printing the 2nd page. I’ve use multiple kinds of paper, I’ve changed out my cartridges, I’ve tried hp cartridges as well as aftermarket cartridges, but i keep getting the same results.
I’ve changed the pickup rollers when it started picking up multiple sheets all the time. Now that part works great again.
I just can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. I’ve downloaded the latest drivers as well as firmware. I’ve even done multiple hard resets. I feel like there may be a particular component that needs replacing, but i have no idea what it would be.
I went ahead on a purchased another printer, but i feel like this one should be
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Toddy_g,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing with your HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer could be due to several potential causes, especially considering the symptoms you've described. Let's go through some possible reasons and solutions:
1. Overheating
The "cooling down" message indicates that the printer might be overheating. This is common in older printers due to accumulated dust or failing internal components.
- Solution: Ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area. Clean the internal components gently with compressed air. If the issue persists, the fuser unit might need replacement, as it can wear out over time and cause overheating.
2. Power Supply Issues
Frequent resetting could indicate a power supply problem.
- Solution: Check the power cable and ensure it is securely connected. Try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet, bypassing any power strips or surge protectors. If the issue continues, the internal power supply unit might be failing and may need replacement.
3. Firmware and Software Glitches Update the firmware on an HP printer
Even though you've updated the firmware, sometimes re-flashing the firmware or resetting the printer to factory settings can resolve underlying software issues.
- Solution: Perform a factory reset again and then reinstall the firmware. Ensure no print jobs are stuck in the print queue, as this can sometimes cause erratic behavior.
4. Mechanical Wear and Tear
Mechanical issues like worn-out gears or belts can cause misprints and paper handling issues.
- Solution: Inspect the internal mechanical parts for signs of wear. Replace any worn-out components, such as belts, gears, or the fuser unit.
5. Environmental Factors
Humidity and temperature can affect printer performance.
- Solution: Ensure the printer is operating in an environment within the recommended temperature and humidity ranges specified in the user manual.

I hope this helps.
