Hi @Printerdumbdude,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when you need to reprint something important and your printer doesn’t make it easy to find your print history. Especially when ink issues interrupt your workflow, it can feel like you're chasing shadows.

Let’s gently walk through how to check your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer for print history and reprint documents.

Option 1: Check HP Smart App (if used)

If you printed using the HP Smart app, it may retain a record of recent jobs:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Go to Print History (if available under your account).
  3. Look for the document and tap Reprint.

Note: This only works if you were signed into HP Smart and used cloud printing.

Option 2: Check Your Computer’s Print Queue or History

If you printed from a Windows PC:

  1. Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e → Select See what’s printing.
  3. If the job is still in the queue, you can reprint it.

For deeper history:

  • Open Event Viewer → Go to Applications and Services LogsMicrosoftWindowsPrintServiceOperational.
  • This shows a log of printed documents (but not the content).

Option 3: Reprint from the Original App

If you printed from Word, a PDF viewer, a browser, etc., check the app’s Recent Documents or Downloads folder. You may be able to reopen and print again.

Print Diagnostic Reports from the Printer

To check if the printer itself is functioning properly after ink issues:

  1. Swipe down on the printer’s touchscreen to open the Dashboard.
  2. Tap the Setup icon → Go to Reports.
  3. Select:
    • Print Quality Report
    • Printer Status Report
    • Web Access Test Report

These can help confirm if the ink system is working correctly.
