@newteedee, what version of Windows are you using?

I tried all this and yes, it picked up the 4 X 6, but even though it runs thru as though it is going to print, it shoots the paper out blank....then I receive a message that says on the printer screen...Paper size in incorrect.  On the PC screen I get a message from HP that says in part....The paper size detected by the printer sensor does not match the paper size selected in software....then it tells you to correct one or both and click on OK to print again....

I'm thinking that how can it not read the correct paper size but it brings it up and shoots it out...it acts at first like it's going to print, but all that comes out is the photo paper 4 x 6 but blank.  I have been trying to figure all this out for almost a year.  I give up most of the time and then come back to it.  I change the software settings and the paper settings in both places, but still nothing....by the way, I'm using the 4 x 6 photo paper that came with the printer, since the only time it worked was during the setup.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything a couple of times, with Kapersky disabled...nothing.

Any other suggestions would be so appreciated.

@lee4guy, is the firmware up to date? (latest ELM1CN1320AR)

Can you print a 4x6 using the front panel of the 7520?

No, I can't print using the front panel of the printer either...it does the same thing, the 4 X 6 does like it's going to print and it comes out empty....my Firmware Revision is:  ELM1CN1434BR, which the printer is showing as the latest update....but I just put the paper upside down, and it printed...not on the shiny side, but on the other side.  The picture doesn't look like the picture at all, but it printed non-the-less....on the flip side of the paper.

You mean cut a piece of paper to be 4 by 6 and insert it in the small photo tray?  I'll try that in the morning since it's almost midnight here...I'll let you know.

I changed the settings as you suggested. It still prints only from paper tray.  Now what?  0726

My HP7520 WILL NOT print from the photo tray, just like everyone elses HP! Most of the "suggestions" on how to remedy this didn't work or I couldn't understand the computereze!    I'm not saying they were wrong, but these computer brains and I DO NOT speak the same language!  I solved the problem;  though I am not happy with my HP because of this issue and a few more.

I loaded each photo I wanted to print from my photo library onto a thumb drive, stuck it in the HP USB on the front of the machine  and printed every photo!   My HP LOVES THE THUMB DRIVE!

Hope this helps the hopeless.........LIKE ME!

This fixed my problem.  I spent about 2 hours trying to get it to print from the photo tray.  I didn't hit all the changes that you have here from the beginning and once I looked at them closely, and changed all of them, it worked.  Thank you so much.  Youtube was no help but you were.
