New Pagewide Pro 477 ethernet won't connect

HP Recommended
Pagewide Pro 477
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased and setup the printer a few mins ago but can't get the wired connection to work.  I have tried 2 different cables as well as different ports in my switch but no connection.  The wireless works with no issues.

The printer could not connect to the server.

Check the network settings (such as the DNS and default gateway settings), and then try again. If you are still unable to connect, contact your administrator or the person who set up the printer.

MtDoraMike,

It does sound like a network connection error.  Please print the Network Configuration Page report and verify that the IP address the print has looks like it's a member of your network versus a self-assigned IP address or no IP address.

If you are using an Ethernet connection, check the network connector on the back of the printer while your Ethernet cable is plugged in.  Are you seeing a blinking green LED indicating that the network hardware sees an active network?

If the network seems like it should be working, please try to open the printer's Web pages (http://printers_ip_address/).  That should tell you if it is connected or not.  You can verify the DNS settings by clicking on the "Network" item in the top bar menu, and then selecting either the Wired (802.3) side-bar menu item, or the Wireless (802.11) menu item depending on your printer model and connection type.  From there you can verify things like the DNS settings.

Finally, if you are using Ethernet, is it a 10\100Mbit network or a 1Gbit network.  The 477 doesn't support 1Gbit.
