HP 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi

I have a HP  3830 printer.

I have recently changed my computer (but not printer) and installed the HP printer driver on it.

Now the printer doesn't print in colour from the computer.

It printed in colour from the old computer. And it prints in colour when I email a document to the printer. So it's not an issue with the printer.

But if I press print from the computer, and select colour printing on the menu it just comes out in black and white.

It's a HP computer too, so it's really annoying, and more hassle than it should be.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Now it's got worse - I tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver.

Now the option on the print menu to select colour or black and white isn't there.

HP Should warn us that their products are ridiculously hard to use

@Remyontour, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is not printing in color. Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

Check for any pending Windows updates first.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing in color. Do not use any HP apps. Open File > print

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

If you have the printer installed, try this. On your computer go to control panel>devices and printers and then right click on the icon for your printer and select device settings tab. Scroll down until you see the device type option and change it to color. Open a new document file and check to see if color is now available.

Hi, thanks for trying to help.

I  have tried doing that this morning and it has made no difference. There is still no option to print in colour.

Is there anything else you can suggest please?

Thanks
