OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ae0000 (99S57AV)

Recently bought an HP Omen laptop. It's connected to the HP OfficeJetPro 8600 printer that's worked well (for a printer) for some time. I've been able to scan using the new laptop with this printer. When I try to print, I see the print job appear in the print queue. It's then marked "deleted" and disappears. How do I get jobs to print?

P.S.: Already tried adjusting permissions on the Temp folder. Windows 11 says my account has full control.

Hi @jonmiller9

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue where print jobs on your HP Omen laptop are being deleted before they can be printed. Since you're able to scan, it seems like the connection between your laptop and the HP OfficeJetPro 8600 is working, but printing is where it’s failing. Here are several troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

1. Clear the Print Queue

Sometimes, print jobs can get stuck or corrupted in the queue. To clear any pending jobs:

  • Open the Start Menu and type "Printers & Scanners".
  • Find the HP OfficeJetPro 8600 in the list of printers.
  • Click on it, then click on Open queue.
  • If there are any jobs in the queue, click on them and choose Cancel or Delete.
  • Restart the printer and your laptop, then try printing again.

2. Run the Printer Troubleshooter

Windows 11 has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can detect and fix issues automatically:

  • Open Settings by pressing Win + I.
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find Printer and click Run.
  • Follow the prompts to allow Windows to diagnose and potentially fix any printer issues.

3. Check Printer Spooler Service

The Print Spooler service manages the printing process, and if it’s not functioning properly, it can cause print jobs to be deleted:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
  • Scroll down and find the Print Spooler service.
  • Right-click on Print Spooler and select Restart.
  • Try printing again after restarting the service.

4. Reinstall the Printer Driver

Sometimes corrupted or outdated printer drivers can cause printing issues. Here’s how you can reinstall the printer driver:

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Printers section and right-click on your HP OfficeJetPro 8600 printer.
  • Select Uninstall device. You may be asked to confirm, so go ahead and do that.
  • After uninstalling, restart your laptop.
  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for the HP OfficeJetPro 8600.
  • Install the driver and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I've taken each of these steps. I've discovered that the program will print text from Microsoft Word, but not an image. It also won't print images from other programs such as Photoshop or IrfanView. What should I do next?
