Hi @Hemeroidroy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with error E0.

The E0 error on your HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer, combined with connectivity issues to a Lenovo laptop running Windows 7, suggests a general error state that might be caused by setup problems, configuration issues, or unsupported software.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Understand the E0 Error:

  • E0 with Flashing Attention Light (!): This typically indicates an error such as a paper jam, low ink, incorrect installation of ink cartridges, or a printer hardware issue.

2. Check for Common Printer Errors:

  • Paper Jam: Check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
  • Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Reinstall them if necessary.
  • Printer Door: Make sure all printer doors are properly closed.

3. Reset the Printer:

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on again. This can clear temporary errors.

4. Printer Setup:

  • Initial Setup: If this is a new printer, make sure you’ve completed the initial setup process, including removing any packing materials and properly installing ink cartridges.

5. Compatibility with Windows 7:

  • Driver Support: The HP DeskJet 2820e is designed with HP+ technology, which may not support older operating systems like Windows 7.
  • Download Correct Drivers: Check HP's support website for drivers compatible with Windows 7, but be aware that full functionality might not be guaranteed due to the outdated OS.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Hemeroidroy ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Install Drivers:

  • Download and Install Basic Drivers: Visit the HP Support website to download basic drivers for the DeskJet 2820e compatible with Windows 7, if available.
  • HP Smart App: If the printer relies on the HP Smart app, be aware that it may not work on Windows 7, as the app is designed for newer versions of Windows (Windows 10 and later).

7. USB Connection:

  • Use USB Cable: If Wi-Fi setup fails, try connecting the printer directly to the laptop using a USB cable. Make sure the cable is securely connected.
  • Check USB Ports: Try different USB ports on your laptop to rule out port-specific issues.

8. Network Setup (if applicable):

  • Wi-Fi Setup: If attempting to connect via Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is within range of the router and that you’ve entered the correct Wi-Fi credentials during setup.
  • Printer Offline: Make sure the printer is set to "Online" in the Printers & Devices settings in Windows.

9. Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Run Troubleshooter: Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > View all and run the "Printer" troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

You may refer to this document for more information on flashing lights.

Since Windows 7 is an older operating system, and support for it has ended, consider upgrading your OS if the printer remains incompatible. This would provide access to better support, security updates, and compatibility with newer devices.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
