Hi @MJC787,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is not powering on after being left unpowered for about three months, it could be due to a few potential issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

1. Check the Power Source and Connections

  • Verify Power Outlet: Ensure that the power outlet is functioning properly by plugging in another device to check if it gets power.
  • Power Cord: Inspect the power cord for any visible damage. Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet.

2. Try a Different Outlet

  • Change Power Outlet: Try plugging the printer into a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug and Replug: Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and try to power it on again.

4. Check for External Power Switch

  • External Switch: Some printers have an external power switch or a reset button. Make sure this switch is in the "on" position or try pressing the reset button if available.

5. Inspect for Indicator Lights

  • Check LED Lights: Look for any indicator lights on the printer when attempting to power it on. Even faint or blinking lights can provide clues about the issue.

6. Inspect the Printer Internals (if accessible)

  • Internal Inspection: If you feel comfortable and the warranty is not a concern, you can open the printer's case to check for any loose connections or blown fuses. This should be done with caution and only if you're confident in your technical skills.

7. Use a Different Power Cable

  • Replace Power Cable: If possible, try using a different power cable that is compatible with your printer. This can help determine if the original cable is faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
