HP 8710

I, along with many others, are tired of HP blocking the use of other cartridges and forcing use of overpriced ink. I've used cartridges I bought off Amazon for almost 2 years now without any issue until yesterday, when I needed to print a report last minute and because of their greedy, grubby hands.... couldn't.

 

I've wasted 3 hours perusing forums, trying to find answers and stumbled across a write up that was hard to follow

I finally came across another blog of someone who detailed the same thing, but with a critical detail..... you MUST use a software like 7zip to extract the files contained in the .exe archive provided by HP.

This helped me, and I was finally able to locate the *.ful file that I needed to flash.

 

After a lot of tinkering in the CMD (it's been YEARS, maybe over a decade since I've played in this dark window) I finally got my syntax created correctly to send the *.ful file. The printer makes some noise, and then pops up an error on screen about the cartridge being incompatible. No green screen, no countdown as detailed in the link directly above.

 

I've refreshed my WebGUI to check the Printer FW and do not see any changes, and it still has an issue with the cartridge.

 

How can I get it to leave the cartridge issue alone so it can flash the firmware?
