So I am trying to print a project and have no idea what's happening. I click print on my computer, the printer takes the first piece of paper, then when it would normally start printing it stops. The orange "paper feed" light starts blinking. I push that and it sends the paper through without printing anything on it and then says the job is done.
I've tried printing 6 times and the same thing happens every single time.

Hi @SHolland514,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your printer is experiencing issues with feeding paper and printing. The blinking "paper feed" light typically indicates that there's a problem with the paper feed mechanism or a paper jam. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check for Paper Jams
- Inspect Paper Path: Open all accessible compartments, including the paper tray, output tray, and any rear access panels. Look for any small bits of paper or debris that might be causing a blockage.
- Remove Jammed Paper: Gently remove any jammed paper you find. Be careful to avoid tearing the paper, which can leave behind pieces that are hard to see.
2. Inspect and Refill Paper Tray
- Paper Tray: Ensure that the paper tray is properly loaded with paper and that the paper is not wrinkled or curled.
- Paper Type: Verify that you are using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer. Check the printer’s manual for the right paper specifications.
3. Check Paper Feed Rollers
- Rollers Inspection: Inspect the paper feed rollers for dust or debris. If they appear dirty, clean them gently with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water. Allow the rollers to dry completely before using the printer again.
- Rollers Condition: Ensure that the rollers are not worn out or damaged. If they seem to be in poor condition, they might need to be replaced.
4. Perform a Printer Reset
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Factory Reset: If the problem persists, perform a factory reset on the printer. This option is usually available through the printer’s menu system or settings. Consult the printer manual for specific instructions.
5. Check Printer Settings
- Printer Settings: Verify that the printer settings on your computer match the paper size and type you’re using. Mismatched settings can sometimes cause feeding issues.
- Print Queue: Clear the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no stuck print jobs that might be causing problems.
6. Update Printer Drivers
- Driver Update: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
