Hi @PapaB1997,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is not printing reliably after installing the new HP Smart app, sometimes printing one page then showing a printing error or busy status. Let’s go through steps to resolve this.

1. Restart Devices

Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.

Restart your computer or mobile device.

Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

2. Check Printer Status in HP Smart

Open the HP Smart app and ensure the printer is online.

Remove any duplicate printer entries — only leave the one that is green/online.

3. Clear the Print Queue

On your computer:

Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → [Your Printer] → See what’s printing.

Cancel all pending jobs.

On mobile, open HP Smart → Printer → Jobs and cancel all pending prints.

4. Re-add the Printer

Remove the printer from HP Smart and your system’s Printers & Scanners list.

Re-add it using HP Smart → Add Printer.

If possible, connect via USB temporarily to configure, then switch back to Wi-Fi.

5. Update Firmware and App

In HP Smart, check for printer firmware updates and install them.

Make sure the HP Smart app itself is updated to the latest version.

6. Check Network Connection

Ensure the printer and your device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Avoid using VPNs or guest networks during setup.

7. Test Printing

Print a test page from HP Smart or the computer’s Control Panel → Print Test Page.

Confirm the printer no longer shows busy or error messages.

I hope this helps.
