I just started to use this printer and most of the time, it doesn't print. Sometimes pdf will print from HP Smart, but other documents usually don't print at all. The queue says they have printed, and sometimes it gives an error message. Test pages print just fine. 

When a document does print, rarely does it print in a reasonable time. Sometimes it's more than 5 minutes before a page will print.

I have followed everything in the "Slow Printing" guide that I found. Resetting by removing power for 60 seconds, turning off 'quiet mode',  making sure both ink cartridges were installed, uninstalling and reinstalling HP Smart and drivers.

To say that I am unhappy with this printer is an understatement. Working from home is more difficult when your hardware doesn't work!

I understand you are facing issues with the printer. Let us try these steps:

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
