Hi @OldandGrey

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a printhead error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975. The error codes 0xc19a0024 or 0x0 typically indicate a problem with the printhead, which is a critical part of the printer that can either be clogged, damaged, or need replacing.

Here are the possible causes and the costs associated with fixing this issue:

1. Causes of Printhead Problem

  • Clogged Printhead: This is often caused by ink buildup or dried ink in the printhead nozzles.
  • Damaged Printhead: The printhead might be malfunctioning or physically damaged.
  • Electrical Issue: The electrical contacts connecting the printhead to the printer’s motherboard might be damaged or dirty.
  • Cartridge Issues: Sometimes, the ink cartridges themselves could be improperly installed or not seated correctly, leading to communication problems with the printhead.

2. Troubleshooting Steps You Can Try

Before considering repairs, here are some steps you can take to try to fix the issue yourself:

a. Clean the Printhead

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Gently remove the printhead (refer to your user manual for instructions).
  4. Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer with a soft lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Let the printhead dry before reinserting it.
  6. Once the printhead is dry, reinstall it, plug the printer back in, and turn it on to see if the error resolves.

b. Reset the Printer

Perform a hard reset on your printer to clear any temporary errors:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the printer from the power source for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn the printer back on to check if the error clears.

c. Check Ink Cartridges

Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reseat them, or replace them if they are low or dried out.

3. Replacing the Printhead

I hope this helps.
