Hi @Havilansh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how unsettling it must be to find your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 suddenly unresponsive with only the Back and Wi-Fi LEDs lit, and no other signs of life. You’ve already tried the most common reset steps, and I truly admire your persistence.

Let’s explore a few deeper recovery options that might help bring your printer back to life.

Advanced Recovery Steps for HP OfficeJet Pro 7740

1. Try a Semi-Full Reset

This reset goes beyond the basic unplug method:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Press and hold the Back button and Power button together.
  3. While holding, plug the power cord back in.
  4. Keep holding for 15 seconds, then release.
  5. Wait for the printer to initialize.

⚠️ This may take a few tries and doesn’t work on all firmware versions.

2. Check for Firmware Recovery Mode

If the printer is stuck in a boot loop or firmware crash:

3. Try HP App Setup

Sometimes the app can reinitialize the printer:

4. Inspect Power Source

  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector.
  • Try a different outlet and cable if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
