Here's what you can try to resolve it:
Power Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the error persists.
Reinstall Ink Cartridges:
- Open the printer cover, remove each cartridge, and inspect them for any visible ink buildup or damage.
- Gently clean the copper contacts on each cartridge with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry, then reinsert the cartridges and close the printer cover.
Check and Clean the Printhead:
- Some HP printers allow you to remove the printhead. Check your printer’s manual to see if it’s possible with the 6968 model.
- If removable, carefully remove the printhead, clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and carriage, and reinstall it.
Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
