HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

After recent updates to my laptop, the OfficeJet 250 no longer prints correctly on prints sent from the computer. Alignment test prints perfectly. Prints sent from my Windows 11 laptop have fuchsia looking like rust, and navy looking like a dull aqua.

No error messages. All diagnostics come back fine. I'm using genuine HP cartridges - even replaced the color cartridge to be sure. First print sent from computer after replacing the cartridge printed well, but everything after that has been just as it was before I replaced the cartridge. Now I have two (expensive!!) open color cartridges, and the same printing issue I had before.

@KrysS75, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your OfficeJet 250!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like a color management or driver issue rather than a hardware problem, especially since the alignment test prints correctly. Here’s how you can troubleshoot:

Check Printer Preferences

  1. On your laptop, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your HP OfficeJet 250, then click Printing preferences.
  3. Ensure Color Options is set to Color and not grayscale.
  4. Try changing the Color Profile to a different setting (e.g., "sRGB" or "Printer Managed Colors").

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Additional troubleshooters > Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Uninstall the printer:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
  2. Reinstall HP Smart or HP Easy Start:
    • Download the latest drivers from HP’s website.
    • Install the printer again using the recommended software.

Check Color Calibration

  1. Open HP Print and Scan Doctor
  2. Run the calibration and color test.

Try a Different App or File

  • If the issue is only with certain documents or apps (e.g., Word, PDFs), try printing from another app.
  • Print a test image from Paint or Photos.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Unplug it from power for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

If none of these steps fix the issue, let me know if the problem happens only with specific files or if there’s any pattern to when the colors look wrong!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
