My new HP 4650 will not print any black.  The cartridge is new - I am using #63XL.

Are you able to make Photocopies?

 

I suggest you try cleaning the Printhead

 

  1. Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, then touch Setup.

  3. Touch Tools, then touch Clean Cartridges.

    The printer prints a Print Quality Diagnostic report.

  4. Examine the print quality on the Print Quality Diagnostic report.

    • If the print quality is acceptable, click No. You can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, click Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.

    NOTE:  If the Printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

I have gone through the cleaning process with same results as when I cleaned yesterday - waiting 30 min for my next try.  However, the copier will not copy in black and  when it copies in color, ithe colors are of very poor quality..

Thanks.  I tried it again even going to the 2nd level cleaning and still no black ink.  I have taken the cartridge out and re-inserted it.  But nothing has worked so far.

At this point I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
