The printer recently began taking a long time to print between pages to both print (.pdf or .docx) and copy.  I have tried restarting the printer, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but neither has helped.  Between pages (approximately 30 seconds), the internal hardware is moving back and forth, possibly trying to determine print head location?  I have a feeling that this may be a hardware issue as I occasionally here a plasticky crack while I hear the internals moving back and forth between pages.   Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP Officejet printer is not working correctly.

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP OfficeJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately this did not solve the problem.  I believe it is hardware related as I hear a loud plasticky cracking sound in between pages as the print head is moving back and forth.  Are there possibly any internal sensors that may need to be cleaned?
