After a power outage (my printer is plugged into an APC SurgeArrest), the printer came back on with a green screen and the numbers 1 2 3 4 5. I've found no way to get rid of this.

I tried to unplug it on both ends, wait a minute, and plug back in. Nothing.

I tried to take the print cartridges out and put them back in, but I can't get the ink head/holder/whatever to move so that I can access them for removal.

I'm out of ideas, and warranty expired in 2021.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This seems like a hardware issue with the printer as the printer carriage is not moving freely inside the printer. To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Could you please share the picture of the green screen with an error message?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, and press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for futhe rther assistance.

We tried that, and still have the green screen with 12345.

The one thing that helped me was to plug it directly into the wall instead of my surge/powerstrip. You tried that, too?
