My OfficeJet pro 8610e all in one series.

The screen on the printer says "printer failure problem with the printer or ink system. I followed the instructions on the printer automated system, no change. I came to HP, followed more instructions posted by HP employee about checking for any blockages or debris in the carriage, no change. I have tried all suggestions and nothing fixed the problem.

  3. Check for blockages or debris: Inspect the inside of the printer, the print carriage, and the cartridges for any blockages or debris.
  4. Clean the ink cartridge contacts:
    • Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the bottom pointing up and locate the electrical contacts (small gold-colored dots).
    • Wipe only the contacts with a dry swab or lint-free cloth. Be careful to wipe only the contacts and not smear any ink.
    • Inside the printer, locate the contacts for the cartridge (gold-colored bumps).
    • Use a dry swab or lint-free cloth to wipe the contacts.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges: Insert the cartridges back into their respective slots.
  6. Close the cartridge access door: Ensure it is securely closed.

It turned out to be that my yellow ink was out.

Why it didn't just say "replace yellow ink cartridge" I haven't the faintest idea. "Printer failure" is an extremely dramatic way to say the ink is out, but at least it is now operable again.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding 'Printer Failure' or 'Problem with Ink System' Error on HP OfficeJet Pro 8610e All-in-One Series!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610e printer displays a "Printer Failure" or "Problem with Ink System" error and you have already tried the automated system as well as checking for blockages in the carriage with no success, follow these detailed steps to troubleshoot:

Solution 1: Check the cartridges for leaks

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Open the cartridge access door by slipping your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer and pulling forward.
  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  4. Press the front of each cartridge to release it and pull it out of the carriage.
  5. Check the cartridges for leaks:
    • If any cartridges are leaking, replace them.
    • If no cartridges are leaking, proceed to the next step.
  6. Slide each cartridge back into its color-coded slot until it clicks into place.
  7. Close the cartridge access door.

Solution 2: Reset the printer

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is turned on.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Note: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
