My officejet 3830 has green light but will not power on.  I had a error code that said something about Math, I could not do anything so I unplugged the printer and it will not turn on now.  I've tried a different power cord, power outlet and even held the power button for 30-60 seconds while unplugging and it still will not power on.  Anyone have any luck?

@Missyd93, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing a power issue with your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer. Here's a set of troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Perform a Power Reset

Even though you've tried holding the power button, let’s ensure we’re doing it correctly to reset the printer’s internal power system.

Unplug the printer from the wall outlet and disconnect the power cord from the printer as well.

Wait for 60 seconds. This ensures the internal capacitors fully discharge.

Plug the power cord back into the printer first (not the wall outlet just yet).

Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds while the printer is unplugged.

Now, plug the printer directly into a working outlet and release the power button.

Press the power button again and see if the printer powers on.

Check for External Electrical Problems

Make sure there is no issue with the power source. Test the outlet with another device (like a lamp or phone charger) to confirm it's working correctly.

Avoid using power strips or surge protectors, as sometimes these can prevent the printer from receiving enough power to start up properly.

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
