Hello,
I had a paper jam and after it happened, I keep getting an error message that says: "There's a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off then on." I have tried resetting it and turning it off an on and its still not working? Please help.

Hi @missgottrocks ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 4650 is experiencing an issue after the paper jam, possibly involving the printer or ink system. Here's what you can try to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check for Any Remaining Paper
- Ensure there are no small pieces of paper left inside the printer from the paper jam. Check:
- Paper input tray
- Output tray
- Inside the printer (remove the ink cartridges if necessary)
Step 2: Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Step 3: Clean the Ink Cartridges and Contacts How to Clean Printer Heads: A Guide to Better Ink Efficiency
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Clean the copper contacts on both the cartridges and where they connect inside the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Reinsert the cartridges carefully and ensure they click into place.
Step 4: Hard Reset the Printer
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in, first to the wall outlet, then the printer.
- Turn it on.
Step 5: Replace Faulty Ink Cartridges (If Needed)
If the error persists, one of the cartridges may be faulty. Try replacing the ink cartridges with genuine HP ink to see if the error goes away.
Step 6: Update or Reinstall Printer Software Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer series
Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up-to-date:
- Go to HP's website and download the latest printer drivers.
- Uninstall the current printer software from your computer, then reinstall the updated drivers.
If none of these steps work, it could be a hardware issue with the printer's ink system
