I have had this problem for some time and really need some help.  My officejet 6500 will not print pdf files. It just gives me a little "bleep" sound, shoots out a piece of paper and that's it!  Will print everything else just fine.  Removed and installed updated Adobe software, but that didn't help.

I found that a McAfee application was interfering and causing the error.  Removing this application resolved the issue.

I am experiencing this same issue.  It is a OfficeJet6500 e709a.  I have downloaded the drivers at hp.com, ran HP's automatic update software and downloaded all updates.  I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader with no new updates to install.

When I attempt to print a .pdf, I hear a beep and a single white page is ejected.

Are you using XP?  Are you using Adobe Reader X?  How is the printer attached?
