My printer stopped working, for each printing request it starts the self-check procedure and ends up with "There is a problem with the printer....0x6101bed"

Any ideas besides dumping the printer?

Hi @georgeku,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the error .0x6101bed.

The 0x6101bed error on your HP OfficeJet 6700 typically indicates a paper jam, carriage issue, or a hardware malfunction. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Steps to Fix the 0x6101bed Error:

Power Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on and check if the error persists.

Clear Paper Jams:

  • Open the access doors and inspect the paper path and carriage area for any stuck paper or debris.
  • Carefully remove any visible paper jam, including small pieces, and ensure the paper tray is properly loaded with aligned sheets.

Check the Ink Carriage Movement:

  • Open the cartridge access door and check if the ink carriage moves freely from side to side.
  • If it’s stuck, gently push the carriage to free it. Make sure there is no obstruction (such as paper or debris) preventing movement.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any leaks or damage.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the carriage using a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the cartridges securely and close the access door.

Perform a Hard Reset (if needed):

  • Unplug the printer while it is still powered on.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and see if the issue is resolved.

If the error persists after these steps, there may be a more serious hardware issue, and contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance or repair may be necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Thanks! More like "it can be anything so keep playing with it until it works", but it started working at some point ( at least it printed the last job without too much fuss)

TBH , not too happy with this situation when it's not even a specific problem but some sort of general malfunction of technology but I'll keep using it until I need to replace any cartridge, then I'll probably buy an ink jet as a much cheaper and hopefully more reliable tech
