How do i fix a problem with my officejet pro being stuck in verifying. unable to use the power button or screen. I did unplug it for at least 1hour and have the same result. Unable to run any diagnostic via PC since it indicate the printer is offline. I am using a hardware ethernet cable and also tried removing it.

Hi @JD454,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is stuck on the “Verifying” screen, unresponsive to the power button or touchscreen, and not detected by your PC even after unplugging it’s likely a firmware or hardware initialization issue. Here's how to fix the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Full Power Reset

  1. Unplug the printer from power and disconnect all cables (USB, Ethernet).
  2. Wait at least 5 minutes (you’ve already done 1 hour, which is great).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds while unplugged.
  4. Reconnect only the power cable and turn the printer on.

Step 2: Try a Firmware Recovery (if the screen remains stuck)

HP printers have a hidden recovery mode:

  1. Disconnect the power again.
  2. Hold down the wireless and cancel buttons (or wireless + back arrow, depending on model).
  3. While holding, plug in the power cable and keep holding for 10–15 seconds.
  4. Release the buttons and wait. This may trigger a firmware recovery or reset.

Step 3: Use HP Smart App or Web Interface (if printer becomes responsive)

If the printer boots up:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your PC.
  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware.
  • Or access the printer’s IP address in a browser to check firmware status.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
