HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000

The Officejet 8715 offers the ability to print Passport Photos from a USB device directly inserted into the Printer.

However, when they are printed they come out as Landscape instead of Portrait.

Thereby making them unacceptable by HM Departments.

From this USB/Printer method, there isn't an option to change this orientation.

@Widnes, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Rotate and Save the Image in Portrait Before Printing

This is the most reliable method.

On your HP laptop:

Open the image using Photos or any editor.

Rotate the photo to portrait (if not already).

Save it as a new file (e.g., passport_portrait.jpg)—this step helps ensure orientation metadata is saved correctly.

Copy this file to the USB and try printing again.

Print via Computer Instead of USB

If that doesn’t work or you want full control:

Connect the printer to the laptop via USB or Wi-Fi.

Open the photo and print using the HP Smart App or standard Print dialog.

Set portrait orientation explicitly in the print settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
