Hi @mmurray358 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer is working with your iPad but not with your Samsung S10e via the HP Smart app. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Ensure Both Devices are on the Same Network
- Check that your Samsung S10e and the HP OfficeJet 4650 are connected to the same WiFi network. Sometimes different networks or bands (like 2.4GHz vs. 5GHz) can cause connection problems.
2. Update the HP Smart App
- Ensure the HP Smart app is up to date on your Samsung S10e. Open the Google Play Store and check for updates for the app.
3. Restart Devices
- Restart your Samsung S10e and the HP printer.
- Unplug the printer for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Turn off your phone, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on.
4. Clear the HP Smart App Cache and Data
- Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart.
- Tap Storage, then choose Clear Cache and Clear Data.
- Open the app again and try reconnecting to the printer.
5. Re-add the Printer in the HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your Samsung S10e.
- Remove the printer if it’s listed.
- Re-add the printer by following the setup instructions.
6. Check for Printer Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
- From your iPad (since it’s working with the printer), check if there is any firmware update for the printer through the HP Smart app:
- Open HP Smart > Go to Printer Settings > Check for updates.
7. Check Mobile Data Settings
- Make sure that the mobile data on your Samsung phone is off while trying to connect through WiFi. Sometimes mobile data can interfere with connecting to local devices like printers.
8. Disable Battery Optimization for HP Smart
- Sometimes, Android’s battery optimization settings can interfere with apps:
- Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Battery and make sure it’s not restricted or optimized.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
