The printer worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. Then started shutting down during the power up sequence. Checked for any paper jams, cleaned the rollers etc, nothing helps.

Hi @ZoranM6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is experiencing a startup issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Plug it back in and try powering it up again. This helps reset any temporary hardware issues.

Check for Overheating:

  • Ensure that the printer is placed in a well-ventilated area.
  • If the printer is overheating, it may shut down during startup. Give it some time to cool off and try again.

Disconnect External Devices:

  • If your printer is connected to any external devices (USB, network cables, etc.), disconnect them and try powering up the printer again. Sometimes external devices can cause power issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • For many HP printers, performing a hard reset can help fix this issue. Here's how:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
    • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Firmware Update:

  • If possible, check if your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this by connecting it to a computer or mobile device using the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface (if applicable).

Check the Power Supply:

  • Ensure that the power supply (cord, adapter) is working correctly. If it's damaged or faulty, the printer may shut down unexpectedly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
