Product: Deskjet 2600

The tricolour orange light came on , indicating low ink, removed the empty cartridge, installed new tricolour cartridge and now the printer won’t do anything, 

the tricolour orange light is now flashing and there is nothing in the display showing ink level, as if the printer does not know the cartridge is present ….

 

tried resets, no change,

if I change the tricolour cartridge for the old empty one the light stops flashing and stays on steady showing low ink, 

 

don’t want to buy another 304 tri colour cartridge if same thing will happen , any ideas
