Hi @CN72P4G1Q0,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

When the orange light blinks on the HP DeskJet GT 5810, particularly on the black cartridge side, it usually indicates a problem with the black ink system. Since you've already replaced the cartridge twice, the issue may lie elsewhere. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Step 1: Check Ink Levels and Proper Installation

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure the black ink tank has sufficient ink. If it's low, refill it using the correct HP ink.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure the black cartridge is properly seated.
  • Remove the cartridge and reinsert it to make sure it’s properly aligned and snapped into place.

Step 2: Clean the Cartridge Contacts

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Remove the Black Cartridge:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and carefully remove the black cartridge.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Reinsert the black cartridge and ensure it is securely in place.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Plug in the printer and turn it on. Check if the blinking light has stopped.

Step 3: Reset the Printer

Turn On the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on.

Disconnect Power Cable:

  • While the printer is on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.

Wait for 60 Seconds:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds.

Reconnect Power Cable:

  • Reconnect the power cable to the back of the printer and to the wall outlet.

Turn On the Printer:

  • If the printer does not turn on automatically, press the power button to turn it on. Check if the issue persists.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to check for any available firmware updates.

Download and Install Updates:

  • Follow the instructions to download and install the latest firmware updates for your printer. (Note: If you do not find the updates, that means this printer is not compatible with your current OS, until the drivers are available)

Step 5: Perform a Printer Diagnostic Report

  1. Print a Diagnostic Report:
    • Use the printer's control panel to print a diagnostic report. This can help identify any specific issues with the printer.
  • If the orange light continues to blink after trying the above steps, there may be a more complex issue with the printer. It is advisable to contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
