I am getting  message on my screen that says the output bin is full. There is nothing in the output bin. I've tried unplugging, rebooting, turning on and off and looking for paper jams, etc. I cannot print as it will not allow with this issue of the output bin being "full".

Welcome to HP Support Community, @NatalieJW

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

f your printer shows “Output Bin Full” even when it’s empty, follow these steps:

1. Clear the Output Bin

Remove all sheets from the output bin and make sure nothing is touching the bin area.

2. Check the Output Bin Sensor

The sensor is usually a small movable flag or lever near the output area.

Ensure it moves freely.

Make sure nothing is blocking it.

If it’s stuck, gently move it to free the mechanism.

3. Restart the Printer

Turn off the printer.

Unplug the power cable.

Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
This resets the sensor system.

4. Inspect for Hidden Obstructions

Open all printer doors and check the following:

Paper path

Output assembly

Rollers and guides

Remove any jammed scraps of paper or debris.

5. Update Printer Firmware

Go to HP’s support page → search your model → download the latest firmware.

Firmware updates often fix false sensor errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
