I'm trying to print a basic one page document to plain paper. I had sent one such page to the printer and it printed out. Reading the document, I realized I needed a second copy. I sent it again, same settings but the job simply stays in the queue.
There are no error messages on the printer screen. I'm connected by USB cord. I hit delete on the job in the queue and sent another copy. Nothing doing. Ink levels are OK. Printhead health is 'Good'.
I've had issues trying to print from a phone and my laptops in the past, particularly with paper settings. I rarely print from this Windows 10 desktop that I'm trying now. In the time I've been writing this, there remains a print job 'Deleting'. Guess I'll reboot. I've been using printers since the 9 pin dot matrix versions were the only ones available and I've never had such a temperamental printer in my life.

Well the page printed when the desktop shut down despite the fact that I had told the job to be deleted from the gueue.
I reinstalled the printer drivers a few weeks ago. I'm really tempted to go back to Epson or Brother printers because they never caused me so much aggravation and waste of time. I've got another set of XL ink and I'll try a different USB cable before I totally give up on this POS. At least is scans via feeder so I may keep it for that.

Tried another USB cable. Made a small document in Wordpad. Letter size, plain paper. Just a bit of text on the document. Sent to printer, shows in gueue. Nothing happening. Guess I have to reboot the computer again.

Welcome to HP Support Forum. I think you need to remove the queue. For Windows, please try:
hold down the Windows key and press R.
from the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
if the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
click on the Stop button,
browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers or C:\Windows\System\Spool\printers (this may be hidden)
delete the job inside this folder
reboot the machine
Regards.
