Hi @HOPECW ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer is not printing from your Windows 11 laptop even with a direct connection, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
-
Check Connections:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the laptop. Try a different USB port on your laptop if possible.
- If using a network/wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your laptop.
-
Restart Devices:
- Power off your printer and unplug it for a few seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
- Restart your laptop to reset any software issues.
-
Printer Status:
- Ensure there are no error messages on the printer's display panel.
- Check that your printer is set as the default printer in Windows settings.
-
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers specific to your printer model and Windows 11.

-
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows, an automated tool to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.
-
Check Print Queue:
- Go to 'Devices and Printers' on your laptop, right-click your printer icon, and ensure there are no pending print jobs. Cancel all pending jobs and try printing again.
-
Firmware Update:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer and ensure it's up-to-date.
-
Troubleshoot Network Issues (if applicable):
- Ensure the printer is connected to the correct network if you're trying to print wirelessly.
- Reset your router and reconnect the printer to the network.
Hope this helps resolve your issue.
