Hi @GRAHAMOLIVER,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Photo 6234 All-in-One Printer is showing an "IN ERROR STATE," here are some steps to troubleshoot.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network or computer.
  • Check for any error messages or lights on the printer.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer’s paper tray and look inside for any jammed paper or debris.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that there is enough ink in the cartridges and that they are properly installed.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit HP’s website and download the latest drivers for your model. Install them on your computer.

Check Network Connection:

  • If using a network connection, ensure your printer is connected to the correct network. You might need to reconfigure the network settings from the printer’s control panel.

Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • If you’re using Windows, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click on “Manage” and then “Run the troubleshooter.”

Check Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer’s settings through the control panel or HP Smart app to ensure there are no settings causing the issue.

Factory Reset:

  • If none of the above steps work, consider performing a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
