Hi @tjon1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer won't print, try the following troubleshooting steps.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the ink cartridges are not empty or dried out. Replace them if necessary.

Check Paper:

  • Ensure there is paper loaded in the tray and that it is not jammed.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer and computer to resolve any temporary issues.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer's display panel for any error messages or alerts.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download them from the HP website.

Set Default Printer:

  • Make sure your HP ENVY 5540 is set as the default printer on your computer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Use HP's diagnostic tool, HP Print and Scan Doctor, to identify and resolve printing issues.

Check Connectivity:

  • If you're using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is properly connected.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Check and clear any stuck print jobs in the print queue on your computer.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the printer is not in "Offline" mode and that the correct printer settings are selected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
