Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

I have a .NET application that generates PDF invoices using Crystal Reports.  The output PDF documents are only about 150k - 160k each and sent 1 at a time to the printer,  90%+ of the time will print without any issue.   Once or Twice a month the invoices will fail (does not even start printing the first page) and the printer has a line for "page is too complex",  rebooting the printer clears the error and the printer will go back to printing the invoices like normal.

I understand the error can be caused by consuming too much memory but I don't believe this is the case here.   This used to use a HP Color Laserjet m251nw and it never had this issue.  If the page was truly too complex, I don't see why a printer restart would clear the error,  it should still be too complex.  No pages are missing when the printer is restarted.

I have tried the universal driver, the PS driver, the regular PCL V3 driver and they all exhibit the same issue.   I am guessing it is some kind of memory management issue in the printer itself but I am curious if anyone else has a similar issues / has any luck in getting it to stop.
