Hi @Bobsss,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A "Paper Mismatch" error on an HP printer occurs when the paper size or type loaded in the tray doesn't match the settings specified in the print job or printer software. Here are steps to resolve this issue.

Check Paper Settings in the Printer Software

Windows:

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Click "File" > "Print."
  3. Select your printer and click "Printer Properties" or "Preferences."
  4. In the "Paper/Quality" or "Features" tab, select the correct paper size and type.
  5. Click "OK" and then "Print."

Mac:

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Click "File" > "Print."
  3. Select your printer.
  4. Click "Show Details" to expand the print dialog.
  5. In the "Paper Size" and "Media & Quality" sections, select the correct paper size and type.
  6. Click "Print."

Check Printer Control Panel Settings

On the Printer Control Panel:

  • Access the printer's menu (usually by pressing a gear or wrench icon).
  • Navigate to "Paper Handling" or "Tray Settings."
  • Ensure the settings match the paper size and type loaded in the tray.

Using Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Enter the printer’s IP address in a web browser to access the EWS.
  • Go to the "Settings" or "System" tab.
  • Adjust the paper size and type settings to match the loaded paper.

Load Paper Correctly

  • Ensure the paper loaded in the tray matches the size and type settings.
  • Adjust the paper guides in the tray to fit the paper snugly.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Download and install the latest firmware and drivers for your printer model.

Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jam or Obstructions

  • Open the printer's access panels and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any debris or stuck paper carefully.

Align the Printer and Clean Printheads

  • Use the printer’s maintenance tools to align the printer and clean the printheads, which can often be found in the printer’s settings or maintenance menu.

Test Printing

  • Print a test page to ensure the settings are correctly applied and the error is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
